Goats Milk Shampoo and Conditioner

by Tammy Paddock

I have found a goats milk recipe for shampoo and I was wondering do you have to put any preservatives in it for it to last outside of refrigeration and what would be a natural preservative?

ANSWER: Hi Tammy. Thank you for your question. I would have to see the shampoo recipe to know for sure if it even needs a preservative, but if it is supposed to be refrigerated, I suspect it does, I recommend Optiphen at the highest percentage the manufacturer recommends, (usually 3% of the liquid - water or milk - in the recipe, not 3% of the total weight.)

Best Regards,
Sydne
