All About Grape Seed Oil!

Grape seed oil comes from the seeds of the Vitis vinifera grapes.

Grape seed oil is pressed from the seeds of Vitis vinifera grapes. The grapes grow on a long stem vine, rooted at ground level, vertically, up trees or other type of supports.

They're found in: Europe, Asia, Morocco, Portugal, Germany, Iran and the Mediterranean.

They're found in humid forests or beside streams.



In the wild they ripen to a dark purple to black color but when cultivated they can be green, red or purple. Vitis vinifera grapes are cultivated on every continent on Earth, except Anartica!

They've been harvested throughout history for their medicinal and nutritional value. They were used in wines for high priests and pharoahs. They were used to treat sore throats, smallpox, nausea, cholera, skin and eye infections, kidney and liver diseases.

Since the twentieth century grape seed oil has been sold, mostly, in the United States and in Europe.

Grape seed oil is lightweight, light in color, odorless with a hint of nutty flavor. It has healthful benefits and is used in many ways.

HEALTH: Contains powerful antioxidants, Vitamin E, vitamins, minerals, linoleic acid and essential fatty acids. Raises HDL, (good cholesterol), lowers LDL, (bad cholesterol).

USES:

FOODS: cooking, frying, baking, salad dressing.

MASSAGES: A carrier oil for massages offering aromatherapy benefits. (Often a favorite among massage therapist).

SKIN CARE: dry skin, dry scaly skin, dry flaky skin, oily skin, mature or aging skin, stressed skin and damaged skin.

It's unscented, quick penetrating and leaves no greasy feeling on skin. Protects, moisturizes and tones skin. The astringent and conditioning properties, tone and tighten skin. The conditioning properties are moisturizing. The benefits of vitamin E are nourishing for skin.

Grape seed oil is used as a soap making oil! SOAP MAKING OIL: Makes a variety of homemade soaps.

Grape seed oil is a good additive to soap. It should be used in small quantities, up to approximately 5% of your soap making recipes, to avoid having oily soap.

Its shelf life is, approximately, one year. It should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place until it is used. It will go rancid much more slowly if kept in the refrigerator.

This natural oil can be blended with other more nutrient rich carriers. It's used in homemade lotion, body creams, lip balms, shaving oils, bath oils, and facial oils.
