Goat Milk Yogurt

by Melissa

Hi,

Do you sell goats milk for drinking or yogurt making? Does it freeze well?

Thx,
Melissa

ANSWER:

No, I do not sell goats milk for drinking. However, if you do find someone who does, it makes great ice cream, fudge and cheese.

I do not have good luck with it in yogurt, (it is the consistency of the yogurt you drink instead of thick and spoonable). I have found that the very, very fresh goat milk freezes and thaws without any deterioration of quality, but if you pasturize it or wait a day or two before freezing, it tends to separate into curds and whey when it is thawed. So now, I freeze it immediately when I bring it in from milking.
