Goat Milk Shampoo and Conditioner

by Nancy
(Cornville, AZ USA)

I am currently milking my goat and would like a recipe or at least some guidelines on making the shampoo and conditioner for my hair. The soap and lotion is wonderful so am sure that the shampoo and conditioner for my hair would be wonderful also.

Thank You,
Nancy

ANSWER:

Thank you for your question, Nancy.

Homemade shampoo can be made by adding additional conditioners and protein to a good soap recipe. I like to use Avacodo oil, Castor oil, Olive and Coconut oils for the basic shampoo bar recipe. Then I add additional silk protein, wheat germ protein, (or use wheat germ oil), to the basic recipe. Additional conditioners make it even better, but if you use conditioner anyway, there is no need for more.

Conditioner is basically lotion with those same additives. I recommend you use conditioning e-wax as over half of your emulsifier for the lotion and viola you have conditioner!

I do carry the conditioning e-wax, at: spencersfarm.com

Good Luck,
Sydne
