Goat Milk Soap FAQs and Answers:* Will goat milk soap make me smell like a goat? Answer: No, even just the liquid goat milk doesn’t have any “goaty” smell or taste. In fact, my goats rarely have any unpleasant odor to them, generally only at breeding time, and I generally stop milking about that time. * How long does goat milk soap last? Answer: As long as you use a well drained soap dish, the bar soap will last longer than commercial soaps. In fact, most people often comment that goat milk soap lasts much longer than the soaps they were using before. * I have oily skin, isn’t this soap bad for oily skin? Answer: On the contrary, oily and blemished skin both respond much more favorably to my mild goat milk soaps than they do to expensive preparations that are supposed to treat those conditions. I had bad skin while growing up. The soaps, toners and stuff they recommended were so harsh. My skin would get dry, but then the bumps and red spots and scaly skin got even worse. I would have badly broken out, flaky dry skin because I used the stuff recommended for oily skin. I sell a whole lot of soap to adolescent boys with acne-type skin eruptions, and they have great success with it. I really wish I would have had it available to me sooner than I did. I was over the age of 40 before I learned the benefits of goat milk soap. My skin sure is nice now! * Are any of your soaps better for acne than others? Answer: All of my soaps are super mild, and that seems to be what acne needs: a really mild soap that cleans, but doesn’t irritate. * My skin is always so itchy, can your natural goat milk soap help? Answer: Absolutely, my soap has so much good moisturizing goat milk in it; you will feel like you used lotion in the shower. * I have always been told not to use soap on my face, why is yours different? Answer: This is one of the most FAQs. I even wondered about this myself. After doing a lot of research, I learned an interesting fact about soap and skin. Most soaps are not buffered. Their pH is so far from the pH of skin that it takes your skin an average of 2 hours after being exposed to soap to return to its normal pH. Goat milk is a buffer. That means it has a pH very close to that of human skin, so when you use soap with a high percentage of goat milk (we use goat milk for 100% of the liquid in our soap recipes) the pH of your skin doesn’t change very much. It doesn’t take all that time to recover. I believe that since face skin is thin and very sensitive, people came to believe all soap on the face should be avoided. After 10 years of making and using goat milk soap, I am convinced that goat milk bar soap and liquid soap are fine for your face, even better than many other products advertised as face products.
